Morning hours offer a magical transition from night to day, with the sky bathed in hues of orange and pink. By scheduling a pre-dawn pickup, guests can appreciate unique and stunning views. The early hours are known for their stable weather conditions, ideal for hot air ballooning. A pre-dawn pickup ensures that we can take advantage of the calm and cool air, contributing to a safe and smooth flight. As the sun rises, winds pick up, making takeoff and launch more challenging. Adhering to the morning schedule avoids less favorable weather conditions later in the day, ensuring a more enjoyable and secure flight.Flight Experience: Uninterrupted Views and Wildlife Spotting
During the flight, passengers will experience breathtaking views of the Serengeti plains, often called the “endless plains.” Our pilots expertly do their best to spot wildlife and adjust the balloon’s altitude for optimal viewing. Pre-Flight Preparation: A Smooth Start to the Adventure
The adventure begins with a briefing from our guides the night before, including signing the waiver form. We pick up guests between 4 am and 5 am to ensure arrival at the launch area by around 6 am. This early arrival allows guests to enjoy hot Tanzanian coffee, homemade cookies, access to a clean toilet, and free Wi-Fi. The pilot will then provide a safety briefing and explain what to expect.
Takeoff and Landing: Ensuring a Safe and Smooth Journey
We aim to take off around 6:30 am, depending on weather conditions. The basket will initially be on its side while guests board and stand upright just before takeoff. Although landing depends on the landscape and wind speeds, most landings are smooth and gentle, reflecting the serene experience of the flight.
Post-Flight Experience: Celebration and Breakfast
After landing, guests will enjoy a traditional balloon celebration and learn about the history of ballooning. They will then be taken to our creme de la creme bush breakfast area, where they will be served a delicious plated breakfast. Our team is hands-on to take care of any dietary requirements provided to us in advance. After breakfast, guests will receive their certificates and be returned to the Visitor’s Centre or the nearest airstrip to continue their safari.
