Meet Jones Mathias Temba, a talented hot air balloon pilot hailing from Tanzania! With over 2000 flying hours under his belt, Jones has been soaring high in the skies for 14 years now. As a former fixed-wing pilot, Jones switched to hot-air ballooning and has never looked back.
He loves the thrill and adventure that come with each flight and takes all necessary safety measures to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for his passengers.
Jones is a big fan of watching soccer when he is not flying or in books, adding more knowledge about wildlife. He’s had the honor of flying with many famous people but would love the opportunity to fly with one of the greats, such as Messi or Ronaldo.

We were in the Serengeti for a few days and decided to do the Hot Air Balloon Safari and it was our best choice! It was wonderful to see the animals and the landscape from above. Our Captain Jones Temba was very nice and spotted everything. We even had the chance to see a leopard running after Zebras!
It is a once-in-a-lifetime experience you may not miss. The trip starts early in the morning and you can enjoy a beautiful sunrise with a cup of coffee while the crew is preparing the balloon…… very exciting!! After a safety briefing, it’s time to enter the basket…;….in a very special way!
Once the balloon is up in the air you are short on eyes to spot everything beneath you……….what a view, what an impressive landscape.
We saw lots and lots of wildlife and made the most beautiful pictures ever.
Captain Jones Temba made some nice shots with the GoPro camera outside the balloon and gave us extra information about the animals, the environment, the Serengeti, and the natives ……all with a nice kind of humor 🙂
What an unbelievable experience it was, that ended with a smooth landing and a glass of champagne. Then a little trip back, by jeep, to the location where a very nice and complete breakfast was served and you receive your flight certificate.
A day to remember !!!

This was my first time riding a hot air balloon. The teams came to my lodge to do the briefing before the day and it was very detailed. I’m glad that I was with Capt Jones to be the pilot as he did a very good job! He turned the directions to make sure everybody in the basket can get a nice view.
The balloon ride was amazing!! The view from above was so different and beyond our expectations. The crew was very helpful and courteous. Breakfast was delicious and the singing was an added bonus! Definitely recommend Captain Temba.
